Interview with Donna Hepburn

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My Dogs, I love taking them for their morning walk. It blows the cobwebs away, gives me time to think and gets my creative juices flowing.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
There are so many books out there! I am terrible for impulse buying so am always clicking on links on social media (This habit costs me a fortune) I also search for similar books to ones I enjoy. I have a long list of favourite authors and am always on the lookout for their new books.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, It was a short story about a group of Arctic explorers being tailed by a wolf pack, concentrating on the fear and respect which developed between the group leader and the Alpha male.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I used to read the little ladybird books based on fairy tales when I was very young. Buying one a week with my pocket money. The first book I can remember having a profound impact was called Moon on the Water by Nina Warner Hooke. Merry-Go-round horses become real and each chapter deals with a different horse. I read this book forty years ago and still remember how I felt to this day.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Difficult Question there are so many to choose from.
My favourite books of all time are; "The Earths Children Series" by Jean M Auel. The ultimate in escapism. Ayla the main character is one of my favourites of all time. They are my comfort read and have read them many times
A tree grows in Brooklyn would also be in my top 5. An outstanding coming of age novel.
The Stand was the first book I read by Stephen King and still remains my favourite
Black Beauty-Anna Sewell, What can I say it's an absolute classic
Interview with a Vampire-Anne Rice, I love and read anything to do with vampires, this one makes the list because it is so vividly and beautifully written.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing as a child, then life got in the way. I have wanted to write a book for a long time and have numerous unfinished attempts on my laptop. The idea for this series of books really took hold earlier this year. I was so involved with the characters the words just flowed and before I knew it (well 2 months later) it was finished.
