I am working on the next book under my first series. It will pick up right where book 1, Connor, ends and I cannot wait to release it next year.
Who are your favorite authors?
I absolutely love Kelley Armstrong, James Patterson and Patricia Cornwell. Even though they each write different genres, it is fiction, which I love. The characters they created have great personalities and depth. I look forward to their next books.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I either look under the author I like to read or under the genres of which I prefer. Sometimes strolling through a section you can find some interesting books.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, it was about his young boy on an adventure that took place on a planet different from Earth. I have to laugh because it was pretty awful. I never even attempted to publish it but we all have to start somewhere, right.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes. "Meet the Austins" was the name of the book. The book did not entail high impact drama but that is what made it interesting. I liked the characters, and the simple life they led. Not every story has to have major conflict to be a great novel.
How do you approach cover design?
I want the readers to see at least the main character in their mind when they read the book so putting them on the cover is important. Then I want to take a moment from in the book and add it to the cover, as well. Bright colors seems to make a cover pop so the next time I will add vibrant colors to catch the eye of a reader.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read fiction, supernatural books. I am into vampires, witches, necromancy, and, thanks to K Armstrong, werewolves plus so much more. A good detective story is needed from time to time as well as a suspense novel.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I am a android fan. I use my android galaxy tab to read my ebooks.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I find book giveaways and book excerpts give people a window into your book making them want to look it up and hopefully purchase. I feel giving back gets you far in life in general. Also, giving a book for an honest review is vital for any new author.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The main character is a teenager named Connor who eventually meets up with Antony, Cheyenne, Willow, Byron and Scott. They are important because they find each other after developing their abilities. That is when their search begins on finding out who they are while trying to evade danger. Then there are the six Keepers who have always played a major role in the six teenager’s lives but the teens are unaware at first. The Keepers contain the knowledge that helps them all fight evil in order to keep Earth safe. They have to grow up fast in order to protect themselves from others who want to harm them but everything does not work out with a happy picture-book ending.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
As a child growing up there weren’t any teen heroes that I could relate to because there wasn’t anyone out there that looked like me. I don’t think it should be mostly one sided. When you’re young, your creative fantasies should seem limitless and there is nothing more a child desires than wanting to feel special or different. I loved science fiction when I was young but there should have been more of a variety for child like me because I felt left out…stifled.
