Dragons have been in my head since childhood but I had only written about them in poems. All the stories I've read have Dragons as servants to humans, wearing harnesses to control them and so on. My Dragons are an independent lot. They help the humans because they regard Tika and her friends fondly but as rather useless creatures, physically puny and not very greatly endowed with intelligence.

I hope the books might appeal as tales of adventure, of good versus evil, with Dragons who choose to help a small group of humans. There are several unanswered questions in the series, some of which I hope to follow up, but personally I think readers have to do some thinking for themselves. The books I most enjoy reading are ones that don't give all the answers so I can spend time imagining what might have happened next.

I have finished Book 7, Mage Foretold, which is set 1000 years after the events described in the first six Circles of Light books. None of the previous characters are in this book but there are references to Tika and more will be explained in book 9 which is at present called Feathers Falling. In Mage Foretold there are Dragons who, being so long lived, actually met Tika and Farn. The 8th book in the Circles of Light series is Echoes of Dreams and will be available Spring 2015

I read constantly, especially natural history and science, biographies, crime fiction, fantasy and occasionally contemporary novels. I never read fantasy novels when I'm writing my own!
