Interview with Skye Garcia

When did you first start writing?
I once struggled to spell my own name, but as soon as I could hold a pencil and scribble like a functional human being I was writing. When you're something like four years old nobody expects a novel out of you thankfully, but it was all good practice.
Describe your desk
There is no desk. Writing happens on random pieces of paper, or on notebooks that live in the depths of my rucksack. It would be useful if writing made you healthier, because I'd be invincible by now, but unfortunately I think it has the opposite effect. I spend far too much time crumpled up on the floor surrounded by first drafts, maps, and dragons.
What's the story behind your latest book?
You'll have to read it and find out!
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Well, it's difficult to communicate with planet earth when you're living in fantasy land - this seemed like the best way.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
When I've finished the book and I can sleep :)
What are you working on next?
The next one!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Writing is strangely not even my main interest. Obviously, fantasy land is a very interesting place so every day is different.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The fact that I might find a unicorn around the corner.
What is your writing process?
The "process" is as real as my desk…
How do you approach cover design?
I am deluded enough to believe I can design my own covers, so I do. I take the photos in fantasy land of course.
Where is fantasy land?
It's a parallel universe that you can visit by reading my books. I hope you find it as fascinating as I do.

“We are as real as anything, which is to say, not very. As real as you, which is – not very. And Unicorns are, naturally, as real as us all – which is not very. The Unicorn will not be found, no. It will find you, if you are real enough to be found…” The quest to find the "evil" unicorn begins to unravel Lucerna's power hungry plans. Or will it complete them?
