Interview with Lauren Wolfe

Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
It wasn't until High School when I started reading classics and Shakespeare that I became a 'reader'. I loved the themes and dissecting the author's intentions and meanings hidden deep within his characters and plots. In college I couldn't get enough of Jane Austen!
How do you approach cover design?
I think covers are so subjective, even in a clearly defined book. The cover shows what the author feels about the book or what part they want to focus on.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, Emma - all show strong female characters and feminists in a time when women were submissive.
Night - shows the horrors and the darkness of WWII
Romeo and Juliet - not only does the plot continue to be knocked-off in today's modern TV and movies, there are several phrases that are mainstream today that were originally in the story.
What do you read for pleasure?
What is your e-reading device of choice?
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
word of mouth, Facebook and Twitter
Describe your desk
an organized mess!
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in CT but it's more about my life experiences than the setting of my childhood
When did you first start writing?
What's the story behind your latest book?
Wanting to help others - especially those that don't know me - since I've been working with friends and family for many years.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Helping others!
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords helped me take the guess-work and mystery out of self-publishing.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Knowing others can read my stories and hopefully be inspired and helped.
