Interview with Elli Lewis

Published 2016-06-20.
Describe your desk
I haven't seen my desk since 2012. It is hidden under a keyboard, endless unfiled documentation and one cat.
Who are your favourite authors?
I like to read a wide range of genres and authors, but my absolute favourites have to be Nick Hornby, Paul Torday and Adele Parks. Nick Hornby's dry wit always makes me smile, Paul Torday's quirky books have inspired me to look differently at plot and structure, while Adele Parks offers a tempting escape into glamour every single time.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The first book I ever read on my own was Matilda by Roald Dahl. I can remember being so proud to complete a whole book and couldn't wait to start the next one.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Like reading, writing is a complete escape for me. I immerse myself in another world and just enjoy the ride.
What are you working on next?
I've written two more books, which I hope to publish soon.
