Interview with MaryLou Grim

What do your fans mean to you?
Simply put....EVERYTHING!!! You all mean the world to me! As a budding author I very much welcome your feed back, and can't wait for you to read the next...and the next...and the next!
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I love creating the characters and giving them life. I like taking a name in an outline from an "it" to a "someone." a "Someone" that lives a life that I have created, and makes you want to turn the page and keep reading.
What are you working on next?
The next in line is the second in the "His Devilish Smile" trilogy, and I am considering a line of poetry at the moment.
Who are your favorite authors?
I love JD Nixon, Dan Brown, and Sarra Cannon. Many of the classic authors are on my favorites list as well. Shakespeare is there along with Jane Austin. There are the poets that speak to me as well, including Frost and Lord Tennyson.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I tend to wear many hats through the course of the day. I currently take care of my 91 year old Mother(It's okay, she's proud of her age!!). This means I am her ally, her best friend, her cook, chauffeur, straight up caregiver, and entertainment. She's amazing, and I am the luckiest woman in the world to have this time with her. I also spend time in the garden tending the trees and blossom's that surround our home. Lastly, I love the time spent with my furry kids. Right now there is a Great Dane, an Italian Greyhound, and a dog in a cat suit, that is my constant shadow. Yes, here with me now, purring encouragingly.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
First thing I do is look for new works by my favorite authors. Next I find myself perusing the different genres and I will start with the first one listed and work my way through each one. I read everything I can on my PC (Smashwords), or my Nook Tablet.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. i was 6 years old and wrote an illustrated story about an Antelope name Alfred...I got an "A!!"
What is your writing process?
I literally have two hats full of names. One for male and one for female names. I pull one from each, and begin creating a profile for them. I let the names speak to me, and they begin to take on a life of their own...The other characters develop as needed, and before I know it, I have given them all form and function, and I have a book on my hands.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes!! I still love it. It was/is, Shel Silverstein's "Where The Wild Thing's Are." That book set my imagination on fire and it's been that way ever since!
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Five! ONLY FIVE!!! I can't do it....My head just spins out to be limited to just 5! I can name my 2 favorite series of books and that is the "Littletown" series and the "Heller" series both by, JD Nixon. I have devoured every word in all of the books within. Her writing takes determined, strong female leads, pairs them with determined and strong male leads and puts me right in the middle of their lives! I now know them well now. she has given me an emotional connection to them all! She's a great inspiration to me as well!
