Interview with Emmy Boy

Can we meet you sir?
Yeah. My name is Emmy Boy. Of course, that's a pen name, you know? I am from Nigeria!
Who are your favorite authors?
James Hadley Chase, no doubts. I like Nick Carter too. In fact, I took that name as my Facebook profile name.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I'd say it's the joy of getting another chance to try to improve...
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I do some computer programming too...
What genre do you write on?
I'd say I'm versatile. I write fiction. I write novels. I write drama. Well, poetry...? Umm...no.
What is your writing process?
I visualize. Then I plan and structure. Then I set to write. Then I modify...
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
That would be James Hadley Chase's Mission to Sienna. It's not actually the first story I ever read, however the impact lasted for a very long time. I think you should read that book to know what I am talking about. As a teenager, I used to read and like the Hardy Boys stories and the Nancy Drew mysteries...
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Mission to Sienna, the suspense was just too much. Strictly for Cash, I am yet to get over the thrills. These two are from James Hadley Chase. I like the Partner by John Grisham. The plot was just too good. I also like Morning, Noon and Night by Sidney Sheldon. It was completely 'unputdownable' from the beginning to the end and I read it from morning, throughout the day and ended at night.

My fifth book...ummm...lemme just keep my options open.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read crime and mysteries. I read romance. I read thrillers. Wait a minute, you said for pleasure right? Well in that case, I read erotica too.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I like the easy and fast publishing. I like the easy manner of making changes to your manuscript. I also think it is more profitable and rewarding as a writer.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Well, I'll say so far, so good.
What books have you written and published on Smashwords so far?
I have published Funny Shady Bible Stories You Were Never Told. As the name suggests, it's just a humorous compilation of some weird and very funny Bible stories I couldn't stop laughing at as I told them to myself. I felt others should share in the fun so I wrote it.

My second book is Getting Him To Stay. I felt women need to have an insider idea on the type of things men actually expect from them to make their relationship a roller coaster.

I intend to publish more work here...
What are you working on next?
I am working on a novel. A romantic thriller. I won't give the name now but watch this space.
