Interview with Angela Blackman

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Looking after my mother and daughter and having a game of lawn tennis with friends
What is your writing process?
I write based on what I see as the needs of persons living with Alzheimer's disease and those who are caring for them.My assessment of these needs come from my own experiences having cared for my mother for the last 10 years and also from what I research and observe in my society.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book "Pee in the Plant Pot" was written based on what I saw as one of the most difficult and challenging areas of caregiving ; the messy issues that people don't want to talk about because they feel ashamed. The book mainly focuses on issues of toileting and incontinence in people with Alzheimer's disease.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Writing about Alzheimer's disease helps me to help others
What do your readers mean to you
Every one who reads my book is valuable and so I empathise with them as they take the journey that I am also taking. My writings are there to support ,encourage and help them through the challenging times
