Interview with Fayme Lacasse

Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Of course. I was in grade school -- first grade I think, but I wouldn't swear to it -- as the teacher gave us the option of copying a story from the board or thinking up one of our own. I opted for the latter and once again Rudolph helped save Christmas. It was a big deal! I think from then on, my course was set, in one sense.
When did you first start writing?
The first grade. No, really. ;)
What are your five favorite books, and why?
That's a difficult question, to say the least. Tolkien? Anais Nin? Emily Bronte? Mark Twain? Somerset Maugham? So many ...
What is your writing process?
Creatively? It varies, but generally it involves imagination as much as, if not more so, personal experience.
What do you read for pleasure?
Science fiction, fantasy. biography. memoirs ... and erotica, of course. ;)
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Kindle mostly (that doesn't mean I'm wed to Amazon though). Occasionally my phone with Moon Reader Pro.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Wasn't so much where as how. My parents got me a library card early and encouraged me to use it.
How do you approach cover design?
Design them myself.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Word of mouth.
Describe your desk
Not too messy ... but not too clean, either.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Only my hair stylist knows for sure!
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Much, much simpler to be published, for one thing. And I'm much more in control this time around.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
That remains to be seen, but so far, so good.

Johnny Culpepper was at a science fiction and fantasy con doing public relations for his latest book, but mostly, he was just kind of bored. Then Riko Okasaki walked into his life, looking like she was right out of a Japanese anime -- flaming red hair, red eyes, an all-black uniform and a big katana sword. Johnny was smitten, but what would he think about her rather substantial secret?
