Interview with David Moore

Published 2017-07-26.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I've been a reader since I first learned to read. There is one book that stands out but I can't remember the title or the author, except that it was about taking the best "forks in the road" in life.
What do you read for pleasure?
Both non-fiction and fiction, historical stuff and the occasional "escapist" novel.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
California, lots of places to explore.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My love of exploring, looking for places that once existed.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Creating "word pictures".
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything, they determine my success.

Researching and exploring the foothills and mountains of the Northern Sierra, looking for places that once were thriving towns during the Gold Rush, eventually dying out and vanishing, is something I thoroughly enjoy doing. This book is about some of those places, complete with GPS coordinates to help you find them.
