Interview with Felicity-Ann McInnes

When did you first start writing?
I was about four years old (1947) and always saw things in my head that had to be written and would sit and write stories in the sand, quickly rubbing them out if anyone came to see what I was doing.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Wish I could answer that as my head jumps all over the place with stories and have so many genre's that I write ( all at once at times - jumping from subject to subject ) - kind of like mental multi-tasking, one could almost call it.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Knowing that I have written just 'that something' that another is either going through and an be comforted, or hear a child laugh with big-eyes at something I wrote, or even sharing the feelings of passion that all of us have deep down inside!

This to me is my greatest joy of writing.
What do your fans mean to you?
Fans???? Mmmmm I do not see 'people' as 'fans' who read my works, but as 'friends through cyber space'.
What are you working on next?
Gosh difficult one as said..
But I want to complete my Biography / Memoirs this 2014; as well as; the story of 2 Umbrellas lost in London during the Olympics...
Who are your favorite authors?
I have absolutely no favourite authors - each one is so unique in their own personal style.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The air that I breathe - the morning sunrise - (or if in some cases the morning rain) - doing my meditation and greeting the sun's healing energy as well as my daily jiggley jog / power walk and at some times my workout at the gym...

Seeing the nature of all around me - hearing birds twitter - children laugh and drinking in the smiles on people's faces is such a blessing.

In a Nutshell?

Life inspires me
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
You mean there is life beyond writing???

Well I paint, create up-market costume jewellery, meditate and exercise...

Yes everyone must have time out indeed ... Batteries need to be re-charged...
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes; was not actually a story but a poem - I was 6 years old in Standard 1 (Grade 3) - and incorporated an art scene I had painted into the background and the poem in the foreground.

The piece was called SNOW

The really strange thing though, is that I had never seen snow; as was living in the Orange Free State at the time during the Summer months having always been a Natal Coastal Durbanite Baby.
What do you read for pleasure?
I am also a creative editor / proof reader and the articles I assist on give me intense pleasure as they fill my heart with joy ranging from stories about Dragons; right up to Angels and the future of our Existance.
Have you any writings ready for publication?
I actually have and am working on converting them to eBook Format as I have always sold them as unique hand made items on demand. Once I am established will be looking into the future of hard copy print.
Here is a synopsis of my works on hand as well as future publications.

How do I describe my fascination for the soul called Helen Martins and her (like mine) loneliness of a love gone and a life alone and the reclusiveness that blossomed into a work of art? I can but only write in words of art how I see her adventure of life. Visiting my ‘Ouma and Papa’s farm house, I would sit at her feet listening to her talk to my Late Mother and Father; for this I thank her.
