Interview with F.J. Telasco

When did you first start writing?
I first started writing in the third grade.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The main character is a man being hunted by the government and a powerful conglomerate. He is the key to solving a problem. The problem is something that is always in the headlines and working it's way through our courts. He is not an ordinary man and that is why he is sought after. He could quite possibly be the answer to our evolution as human beings.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I did my research and found that the path to being an indie author was possible. I was hesitant at first because I am not the most tech savvy person in the world. But through trial and error, I was able to complete my first novel. I also wanted to get my story out there. I new the traditional way would be difficult if not impossible. I read the stories of other authors who had followed the same path and my story was similar to theirs. It served as motivation.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I am still new to Smashwords but I have been able to distribute my novel to many different outlets. It has made my novel available to many potential customers. I hope that this distribution will lead to success.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing is putting a story to paper, sort of say. It is being able to formulate characters, places and things. The story sometimes writes itself. It is a wonderful feeling when that happens.
Who are your favorite authors?
My favorite authors are Dean Koontz and Stephen King.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The opportunity to enjoy yet another beautiful day.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, I do remember it. It was written in the third grade and it was about Jesus. The title of the story was, "What if Jesus was an alien."
What is your writing process?
I sometimes write out an outline for the story. On other occasions, I have specific story ideas and I then let the story develop around those ideas.
