Interview with Mindy L Wallace

What do your fans mean to you?
Everything! Without our loyal readers, published authors would surely not exist.
What are you working on next?
I am currently designing a photography website.
Who are your favorite authors?
The late Erma Bombeck has always been my favorite author. Her quirky sense of humor and ability to always be there for her kids and have dinner on the table for her hubby, (while she wrote 8 hours a day on an old clunker typewriter), gave me a no-excuse inspiration to write my own.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My teacup chihuahua, Miabelle. She keeps me hopping!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I live in South Florida, so I truly love being outdoors. I usually pack up a beach bag, and my chihuahua, Mia, and we ride down AIA on my motorcycle. We get stopped a lot for picture requests...Mia wears pink goggles and a helmet. Safety first!
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I remember one of the first poems I ever wrote. I was 12. I titled it: "God". I've included it in my current book: NO TIME TO CRY - One Mother's Will to Survive Against All Odds.
What is your writing process?
For me, it's always been about timing and focus. When I decided to write, NO TIME TO CRY back in 2010, I could not type fast enough. I woke each day, had my coffee and wrote my heart out for the next 15+ hours a day for three months until I was done. The first thing I did, however, was write out and organize my chapter names. That definitely helped me keep my focus. That, and making notes.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Hmmm....the first STORY I ever read that opened my eyes to reading was a Nancy Drew book back in 8th grade. Up until then, I'd had a terrible time with reading comprehension. I'd always been labeled lazy or not applying myself. It caused some self esteem issues for sure. One day, my 8th grade teacher, Mr. LaGrow, figured out that if I was reading something that APPEALED to me, it would eventually help me out with the comprehension part. He was right! God bless him, because from then on, I never had anymore comprehension issues.
How do you approach cover design?
Very carefully. If you're all over the place, you will miss the opportunity to provide a message with your cover stating what's actually INSIDE your book.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
The Bible
Redeeming Love, Francine Rivers
If' Life's a Bowl of Cherries, what am I doing in the Pits?, Erma Bombeck
Don't stand too Close to a Naked Man, Tim Allen
(and of course...) NO TIME TO CRY - One Mother's Will to Survive Against All Odds

Because I have learned something from ALL of them. How to live, love, laugh, forgive, and trust.
What do you read for pleasure?
Text messages from my kids, cuz they always crack me up.
