Interview with Giselle Lumas

Who are your favorite authors?
Toni Morrison, Terry McMillan, Janet Evanovich, Jervey Tervalon, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Susan Mallory and many, many more...
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My family, pets and my imagination
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading, dancing, Zumba, walking, daydreaming or hanging out with my family and pets.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Either through ads from social media, friends, or browsing.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story I wrote was about a cat named Doorknob. He was teased because of his name. I don't remember much else from it. I was five or six.
What is your writing process?
Outline, character sketches and write chapters in separate files so that way I can bounce around from chapter to chapter... depending on my mood.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Bluest Eyes and Sula by Toni Morrison- Toni Morrison doesn't waste her words. Every sentence counts and it touches my soul. She's so poetic.
The Stephanie Plum Series by Janet Evanovich- Janet Evanovich characters are hilarious and so full of adventure and crazy mishaps. So often while I'm reading her stories I laugh so hard, tears are rolling down my cheeks.
Any of Susan Elizabeth Phillips books but if I have to choose one it would be Match Me if You Can. Susan Elizabeth Phillips writes realistic characters or at least characters that I can relate to. They are goofy, quirky, intelligent and perfectly imperfect.
What do you read for pleasure?
Mostly I tend to reach for the romance but I also enjoy sci-fi and action/adventure.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Normally I use my kindle but I also use an iPad.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Describe your desk
Sticky notes, coffee stains and lots and lots of paper all over the place.
