Published 2015-08-08.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing when I was in school. I wrote short stories and poems. I also took a creative writing class when I was in the 11th grade.
What's the story behind your latest book?
It's about a woman who becomes lost with the tragic loss of her parents. She decides to pack up and sell her parents home and head West for a new future. She lands in Colorado and sets up 'shop' in Estes Park with a photography studio. She meets new friends and the Ronan James enters the scene. She has serious trust, betrayal and lies from men in her past and isn't ready for another man, until he slowly earns her friendship and trust. Will she allow him to mend the pieces of her heart? You'll have to read it and find out!
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I wanted to not have deadlines and write stories on my time. I have many different ideas for books and I want to explore them all.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I get to tell a story and get it out of my head and go to the next one waiting.
What do your fans mean to you?
They are my support group, with out fans, friends and family, who are you really?
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My kids, well, my youngest, he'll come into my room and tell me to wake up and make him peanut butter toast. If I don't, he comes back, pats my cheek and stares into my eyes, telling me he's hungry. He's my motivation.
What are you working on next?
I am working on book 2 of the Pieces Trilogy, it's called 'Shattered Pieces'.
Who are your favorite authors?
I have so many- Jasinda Wilder, Maya Banks, Tillie Cole, Cora Seton, Jay Crownover, Richelle Mead, Jo Raven, S.A. Wolfe, Jessica Wood, Deborah Blandon, Pricilla West, Melissa Foster, Alexa Land, Julia Sykes, Julia Kent, Juliana Stone, Eve Carter, Rachel Van Dyken, Jade Eby, Sylvia Day, Kate Pery, Bella Andre. I could go on and on and on.......
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
With my kids and husband. We live on a small lake and go fishing, playing at the park, or helping my younger guy to water color or color with in the lines lately.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I bounce around from ebook to ebook. I have found many really good authors and their books through my kindle, or through my sister who also has a kindle.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
In Pieces is the first book I've written. Anything else was just ideas.
What is your writing process?
Pound on the keyboard until I get the idea just right then I go back and fix or reword it until it's perfect, or as good as I can get it. Then I save it and add more until the book is finished. I like to go back and edit my own stories before I send them for a final edit by the professionals.
How do you approach cover design?
I had a very specific design idea for the In Pieces book, as well as Shattered Pieces. I'm still deciding on the third book cover for Broken Pieces.
What do you read for pleasure?
Romance, motorcycle club books, MMA romance, I'm a big sucker for a good romance and hunky guys.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Kindle fire HD 7".
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Minnesota with a two parent home with two younger sisters. My dad was a HUGE reader and we had a bedroom in the basement where he kept his books. There was over 4000 books in there. It was an everyday thing to see my dad with a book, or to see him in bed reading and falling asleep with the book in his hand. He was a big influence in my life with books. I even dedicated my first book to my dad.
