Interview with Cody Young
Who are your favorite authors?
Lee Child, Maeve Binchy, Marian Keyes,
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
With my boys (my husband and three smaller ones).
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Everyone I know is a writer - no shortage of recommendations.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
When I ran out of 'What Katy Did' books (by Susan Coolidge) I wrote a story called 'What Katy Did After That'.
What is your writing process?
I start on the back of an old envelope, progress to a rough outline on my computer, and then start writing scenes. I work steadily on the first draft for two months and then I work on the edits.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Tom's Midnight Garden has an impact on me - it's a time travel, so that explains a lot.
How do you approach cover design?
Cautiously. Covers are so important!
What do you read for pleasure?
I enjoy romantic suspense, thrillers and teen fiction.
