Interview with M.G. Nash

What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book, Cabo Shadows, tells the story of Bob and Carrie, two lovers who want to save the small, casualCabo hotel they visit for long weekends, and to enjoy their nude beach. However, a big timeshare syndicate is pressuring them to sell out so they can build condos on this stretch of private land north of Cabo San Lucas. Bob helps the family, and Carrie wants to help, too, but Bob is afraid the syndicate will hurt her. So, it's a cat and mouse game to see who is hiding in the Cabo Shadows.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I wanted to share my work without following the lengthy standard publishing process. It is more important to me to write than to conform to agent and publisher expectations. I prefer speaking directly with readers and hearing their feedback.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy is when the character comes alive and says something totally unexpected. I'm not always in charge, and I have to allow for character development to be more or different than I originally planned. It is a pleasure to come up with a twist in a storyline! I like every part of the writing process - even the details of final editing.
What are you working on next?
I have created a genre I call "Nudist Novels." My next novel is, The Barefoot Lady, set on a boat in the Bahamas where nude sailing is popular. My lead characters are nudists who love to explore the cays surrounding the main island. Their story also has suspense with smuggling rhino horn from Africa. Will Bill be tempted to join the small boats moving the powder to the US? He could really use some extra cash right now. He and Pat must fight to save their love and overcome obstacles so they can be together on the North Carolina shore.
Who are your favorite authors?
I am an avid reader, and experiment with every genre. I have read each of the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich. I also like Nora Roberts writing under her pen name, J.D. Robb. I love the fast-moving dialogue of Jane Feather, and the quirky characters created by Carly Phillips.
