Interview with Tom Grimeton

Describe your desk
It´s never clean of things, just the spot where I can put my Mac Book that is hocked up to a really large screen so I have a good overview of what I´m working with. I am a strong beliver of what it looks on ones desk is how it looks in ones brain. ;-)
When did you first start writing?
When I was teenager I wrote a lot of poetry and short stories. I always loved express myself with words.
What do you read for pleasure?
Suspense novels. Different education books. I do a lot of biblical research.
What is your e-reading device of choice?

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Swedens third biggest city. Here every third person has foreign roots, including me (Hungarian/German/French). This gives me a loot of input from different cultures. This has formed me a lot and gives me a broader perspective of things in life.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I´m an independent as person regarding everything. In business I like to be independent and free to do anything I want. That is because I´m a creative person and hate restrictions.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I write because I have something to say. And when there is people that likes to read what I have to say, that is a fantastic feeling. I also think smal things can change people. Can my thoughts be those smal things for someone sometime then I´m happy.
What do your fans mean to you?
Without fans an author is nothing. Fans is persons that shares you writing ideas and thoughts. It´s like a pen pal friend that you write to and who is enjoying you mails.
What are you working on next?
Wow, that is so overwhelming as my desk. It´s a epic story about human history, about the good and the evil. It´s a story that starts long back in time and ends up in the future. The plan is to make it a trilogy.
Who are your favorite authors?
I like Dan Brown because he makes the reader believe whatever he wants them to believe, even if the facts are wrong.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I love my day job. Marketing and sales. Supplements that helps people. It doesn't feel like a job at all. Actually its harder for me to write.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Family. Friends. Road biking.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Goodreads. Kindle recommendation.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, and it was horrible. I even sent it to the biggest publisher in Sweden and asked them to judge it. I got a polite answer that they won't publish it but that i should keep on writing if I like it. I also got a bunch of advices from them. I was around 13 years I think.
What is your writing process?
I have to know where the story will fit in to the three act structure. Then I have to know in advance about the big scens and the main storylines. I work everything out in my head. Write smal things in Scrivener. I don't start writing before I feel that is time to give birth to the story on paper. I´m saving all my concentrating energi when I´m giving birth thought the writing. Before that the story comes to me. Like seeds to fertilise my idea egg. Then the growth starts.
What's the story behind your latest book?
It´s about a doctor who really wants to help, but in his own way. It´s inspired by two real stories.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes sure. I was like 13 and I sent the script to the largest book company for review and advise. And they were kind enough to answer my question and gave me some advice.
How do you approach cover design?
I also work as a art designer and therefore I love book covers. All artwork is done by me.
