Interview with Robbie Rodgers

Published 2018-03-07.
How do you approach cover design?
I usually take a simple approach that involves obsessively measuring and placing elements like titles and bylines into proportional ratios in obsolete and functionally inappropriate programs. I do my best work when trying to get Microsoft Paint to do the job of AutoCAD. I'm never satisfied unless I've made a task that would take a reasonable person a handful of minutes last for 16 hours, and then still miss work because I didn't quite get it right.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
I don't read books. That's nerd stuff.
When did you first start writing?
At seven years old, I felt the world really needed a YA sequel to Jurassic Park.

The Woodbridge is a charming 19th-century hotel sitting upon the Rio Grande, a holdover from a time before rails and fences. It's fun to believe the Woodbridge is haunted, but the hotel's bartender knows better - or does he? Follow an unraveling mystery of malevolent smells, ghastly cleaning ladies, and brujeria in this homage to classic Gothic horror. A perfect read for Dia de los Muertos
