Interview with John Richards, Jr

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a desert, and there was nothing, anywhere. I had to have a good imagination, else I would die of boredom. The desert skies were magical, and were a big influence on my creativity.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing at the age of 5, with basic letters of the alphabet and numbers. By age seven, I was starting to write joined up words and stuff. However, in my school time, I never learned grammar properly, and in terms of sentence structure and punctuation... I had to fend for myself.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I don't have any set themes with my books. I just have such a creative streak, I get started and make things up as I go along. In real life I am normal as anything, but on the page, I can be whoever I want to be.
What is the correct order of your books?
The series of books begins with Out of this World, then One Possible Dream, National Treasure, and Be Gentle With Me is the latest.
In truth, Out of This World is the most recent book, but it is meant to be read first.
Don't you worry that people will find your books offensive?
My books are meant to be bizarre and full of bad language, throughout. People will always be offended by something, but as a decent writer, never try to please everybody.

People will end up interpreting my books however they like in the end. If you are offended when you know the book is supposed to be like that, that is your problem.

Many people love my books and chuckle from start to finish. There are serious chapters, and helpful advice too, but it is all one big joke, not some big important documents.
Do you have a serious side?
I am a very quiet, serious man in person. On paper, I can be as crazy as anything, and get away with it too.
Most of One Possible Dream is the truth, like it or not. The biggest thing for me was just admitting all the famous women I fancy, stories about my past and more; just letting go. It takes huge guts to write openly and honestly about yourself. The truth is often more bizarre than fiction. I know exactly who I am and what makes me tick.
What do your fans mean to you?
I don't have many ha ha ha.
No, lots of people like me, but my life is very quiet and dull, outside of martial arts and writing.
I love my fans, and love the ladies too.
If I can make just one person laugh with each book I write, my work is done.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I like writing simply because I can do it. I don't mean to be offensive with my stories and stuff, but it is all fiction, not reality. I like to write, simply to make people laugh and leave them feeling confused also. I fully acknowledge that many people read my books and don't find them funny at all. However, some people are in stitches, and think my books are the funniest things they have ever read.

The greatest joy is making people laugh. The world needs more laughter.
Who are your favorite authors?
I actually like Stephen King movies, but never read any of his books. I also liked Shelley's Frankenstein. I love Viz too, as it is as if it was written just for me, people have said I should write for Viz before.
I have read so much, I cannot remember most of the books I read.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I read so many books in my life I got fed up with just absorbing all the time. Now, I just read Viz, on the loo. I just wrote and got the bug this year, and have written five books this year. I also wrote a martial arts book years ago too.

I have no pressure or motivation, I am just a creative type and do things. I wanted to let the world know about me and my life, whilst ripping all seriousness apart with a crazy sense of humour. My life is not a plain old boring tale by any means. If you want to know me, read One Possible Dream.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I feel very lucky to be allowed to have my books published on Smashwords. I have only been on this website for like two seconds, but hopefully I would like to say that this site made me a success; definitely.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Pretty women are my inspiration. My dream is to meet the woman of my dreams. Find out in One Possible Dream, with the story of the same name. I have no quest for being the most popular man alive. I do like famous women, and probably always will.

I am obsessed with getting with a popular woman, being in love, and just having that fairy-tale ending. I am not after the money or the fame, I just love the idea of being with a woman who millions of people like.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Well, I do martial arts five times a week. I also work in a shop too. I advertise my website for martial arts, and love video games and films- never watch TV.

In an ideal world, I would like to make so much money from my books that I don't have to work a regular job anymore.

Once a month, I like to dress up as a Sea Lion and do pornography with beautiful women.
Why choose 2017 to write so many books?
I decided to write a book just to say I could do it. I got the bug, and decided to write more and more, in between working and martial arts.
I have been incredibly busy this year, so I might take a break from writing for a while now. I just have one more book to edit and publish soon, then I'll focus on other things.
What are you working on next?
Well, I already have another book I'm editing. I'll get a cover designed, and it will be available very soon. I am also going to write another martial arts book eventually, but I plan to have a break from writing, after doing five books this year.
