Interview with Bettina Busiello

Published 2016-08-22.
What are you working on next?
Right now I'm working on volume 8 of my "Blame The Goth Girl" series. Though not on Smashwords yet, both 6 and 7 will be available for upload at the end of October.
Describe your desk
Cluttered but disinfected weekly.

... still cluttered though.
Who are your favorite authors?
Anne Rice, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Jane Austen, Charlotte Brontë, Emily Brontë
How do you approach cover design?
I pay someone. Haha. Okay, I really do sketch my own covers. I have artistic skill that only goes so far. I'm sure if I spent four years in art school, I'd have a better end product. At the end of the day, I find an artist to trust with my vision and so far I've yet to be disappointed.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I'm only now getting started with real marketing. So far, Facebook has proven cheap and effective. Twitter is semi-effective and more expensive (something I'd like to tackle when and if I make actual money from my writing.) My next venture is NoiseTrade. I've heard good things so far, so we'll see.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The high I get while writing and the feeling of accomplishment once I complete the first draft.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Online gaming. It'll more than likely be my downfall.
What do your fans mean to you?
I wish I had more! Of those I do have, the feedback just keeps encouraging me to write more. I aim to please and make people happy. If my writing does that for people, then I won't stop.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I wouldn't call it an inspiration so much as not wanting to miss anything the day brings.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Recommendations via readers, fans, family, and friends.
What do you read for pleasure?
Non-Fiction historical and political books. One of my favorite Non-Fiction writers is Jared Diamond.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
The only one I have—my iPad.
