Interview with Heather Anglin

How do you approach cover design?
I've never really tried it before. However, I have some ideas for my first book and will probably be doing the illustration myself.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
1. Gone With The Wind because I love the concept of a genteel society. Even though the book is a romantic type of novel, it gives great insight as to what the time period was like and shows that every society has it's issues.

2. Interview With The Vampire-Come on, who doesn't love Anne Rice?
3. A Knight In Shining Armour by Jude Deveraux. I love the concept of time travel and the way she writes, you feel as if you are also going back in time. I absolutely love most books or movies based on time travel. Timeline is one of my favorite movies.
What do you read for pleasure?
Anything by Anne Rice. I also love Stephen King novels but mostly I read Inspirational/Christianity style of books. I loved the Left Behind Series by Tim LaHaye
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Amazon
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I am not sure yet. This is my first publishing attempt so we will see how it goes.
Describe your desk
One word.....DISASTER
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the Coal Fields of West Virginia. Growing up in the mountains has given me tons of inspiration for my writing. My first book will be about growing up here.

I have been writing since around the 5th grade. Always writing poems or short stories and book reports for my friends :)
What's the story behind your latest book?
Just about growing up in Southern West Virginia and how it's different than everywhere else. I want to put my life in print to show others how you can face obstacles that are put before you in life and overcome them.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Just thought it was time I started writing the book that I have always wanted to write.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Again, this is my first attempt so I will just update this question later.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Just getting my thoughts down on paper. Creating characters and inspiring others makes me feel like I am making a difference in the world.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Taking care of my family and being able to be there for my sister, niece and nephew.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Playing games
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, it was a silly poem about what happens to the body as it is decomposing....macabre stuff.....ugh
