Interview with Henriette Peitorchid

What is your e-reading device of choice?
I have an Apple iPad and use both iBooks and Kindle.
Describe your desk
A catastrophe! I have a mixture of children's artwork, book ideas, household bills and more piling on my desk. I write on my laptop in various rooms of the house, depending where I'm most comfortable at the time. Rarely do I ever use my actual desk
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a family of 6 kids. Being the middle child I had to work hard for any kind of attention. There was pressure from all sides. I had little brothers who were five plus years younger than myself so I wasn't a baby any more, then my older sister was smart, so I felt I had to compete somehow and tried hard to learn everything. I hate failing at anything I do. Growing up on a farm was amazing, an experience I'd love for my own kids. I find I'm level headed and tend to just do the work assigned to myself rather than pass the buck
When did you first start writing?
I've written various items. My love of writing was found in high school. At fourteen, I found an English teacher who liked my work and always pushed me to be better and write creatively. I've written poetry, scripts, and finally a novel.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Purely interest, I love the genre I write in and read it myself. I write for my own pleasure and hope that other's will enjoy what I write
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
My book is now out there. I never would have gotten this far without Smashwords. I tried various agents who sent back my manuscript unread or with absolutely no feedback. This way I can get honest feedback from readers who have actually read my work! I love it!
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Hope. That may sound strange coming from a married woman with children. But my greatest joy in writing is inspiring it in others.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything! I write out of enjoyment. Mine and theirs!
What are you working on next?
I considered a sequeal to Dewer Falls but am waiting on a little feedback to see how well it's taken. So for now I have a few different ideas in the works
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I love discovering new authors! So I will happily sit and scroll through thousands of titles until i find a book that jumps out at me
Who are your favorite authors?
Sylvia Day would probably be my absolute favourite, but there are so many to list!
