Interview with Heather Grey

Published 2017-03-13.
What are you working on next?
I am going to make another devotional book, but I was also hoping to write a fiction christian book from a fantasy bent. I want to make these animated shorts as well and put them on youtube. I figure it would be a good way to reach people about God.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I think at one point in my life it was my children. You can't live for your children. They have their own life. Now I have a little different perspective. I realized God is the most important thing to me. Living for God really starts my day. As Jesus puts it, we need to store our treasures in Heaven. Treasures such as Love for one another. How many more people can we witness too by just loving them?
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I believe we should all share the information that God has provided us through pray and reading the bible. Writing devotional books is a way for me to share my christian faith with others. I hope that my writing inspires others to share their faith as well.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I volunteer with various charities. I like to give back to the community.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read the bible, devotional books, christian fiction and christian nonfiction books. Sometimes I like to read fairy tales and myths.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I use a kindle fire.
When did you first start writing?
My mother used to work in theater when I was young. She worked on costumes, scenery, props, etc... I loved to see the plays created. Unfortunately, I found out that I was not a good artist. It made me upset that I could not draw, paint or even sew well. I found writing did not require hand-eye coordination. I was about 13 when I first started writing short stories.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords allows you to publish for free. This is awesome, because Amazon does not. There are tons of free items on Amazon, but they have to be published for free somewhere else. Since I am writing as a means of sharing my faith, the book really needs to be free.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I don't write mainstream books that could be published for mass production.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I usually look at visio or amazon. At the end of the book there are other suggested titles by the author. I will look at these as well.
