Interview with Leigh Savage

When did you first start writing?
I started writing in High School after watching the Dracula movie I wanted to read more romance with vampires but I couldn't find any so I started writing my own short stories; all the original stories can be found unedited in a book called Bound by Blood.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
When I was trying to go the traditional route I kept getting that my books had too much violence and that the sex scenes were to gritty for traditional romance. So instead of changing my stories to fit the ideal of what they considered to be romance I struck out to try and make it on my own and prove that readers wanted something more than the cookie cutter romance novels that the traditional publishers keep publishing.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I get to explore some of my deepest darkest and most erotic fantasies; all while creating something for the reader to enjoy as well.
What are you working on next?
I'm currently working on the pr prequel to Angel of Death that goes back and tells Christopher's and Rachel's and it's tentatively called Surrender to the Night.
Who are your favorite authors?
Christine Feehan, Heather Graham and Laurell K Hamilton to name just a few.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I'm married with two children, work full time as a private duty nanny and I've recently returned to college to get my Nursing Degree. Also this year I joined Write Pack Radio as a full time panel member and we record a new show every week for blog talk radio.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Through Facebook parties, author's that I friend on facebook and/or meet at events.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, it was a children's story that I wrote in 5th Grade for a contest about a little girl who's pet fish had died that day and she had to go to school and deal with the mixed emotions of her pet dying. It won the contest and I got a $10 check from the news paper and the story was published in the local Poplar Bluff paper. I thought it was the greatest thing and was so excited about winning my $10 check.
What is your writing process?
For my first book I really tried to plan the book out and it didn't work...I've come to find out my characters don't listen to me so I've become a seat of my pants writer...and I just write the story as it comes to me.
What do you read for pleasure?
Any type of erotica; the naughtier the better.
