Interview with Alexa Night

Published 2014-01-03.
What's the story behind your latest book?
It's something that just came to me. Most of my stories happen like that...no real process or story to how the stories happen.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I've spent years trying to break into the industry and for my short stories I figured why not self-publish? My husband is amazing with book trailers and book covers so as I create the shorter pieces I'll just be putting them out.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
This is the first so I'm not sure yet.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Everything. Getting the story out, having people read it, creating. I love the entire process. Writing is such a way for me to escape from the world for me. I can get away from whatever problems I'm having by getting into my worlds and my characters heads. I can forget who I am for a short time. It's amazing the places you can go simply by writing.
What do your fans mean to you?
If I have any...the mean everything. It's amazing that there may be people out there who love my writing enough to be fans.
What are you working on next?
A lot. I had a release today. War of the Gods. I have an erotic piece I'm shopping around. A YA piece I'm still thinking about. An UF piece I'm editing. A YA paranormal piece I'm editing. And a ton of others I'm either writing or editing. I'm a busy, busy writer.
Who are your favorite authors?
There are so many. I don't think there is enough space for me to list them all.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Besides my kids? Writing.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Working. I have a day job....well night job. I work overnights in a hospital. I have kids and a husband. I have a very busy life. I sometimes wonder how I have the time to write. Or sleep.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Searching through Amazon, word of mouth, and Twitter mostly.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. And it was truly awful!
What is your writing process?
Really...I don't have one.
