Interview with Ian Robinson

What inspires you to wake up?
I'm quick to wake (I'm really still as I've got up at all hours in the night and I don't like to wake my wife) and I look forward to my first, home-made, Cappaccino. I'm drinking Guatemalan Roast & Ground Coffee which won the Grocer Food & Drink Winner in 2016. It says (in minute print) "Open Label", so, I tried and I tried. Now I've got a screwed up, torn, squiff and utterly destroyed label! Now to how I make the Cappuccino: I put the sugar directly into the cold milk (not the actual coffee, because I find that it evenly distributes the taste/sweetness) before I froth it up. I add a teaspoon of instant to my cup before I do anything, because I like it strong. I use one of the 8"/20cm stainless steel to froth the milk. I hold it because then I know to turn the frother off as it's become nice and warm. Then, I put some ground until it's coming up to just less than a 1/4" or about 5mm below the rim in the coffee holder. I count to about 19 to 25 seconds, depending on the level of the ground coffee in the holder. Then, I tap the ss jug three or four times to get out most of the tiny bubbles, then I pour (not like Nathan who works in a Bakery, who says he only gives it one firm tap. Yes, I said one). Lastly, I sprinkle Green & Black's or Bournville cocoa on top. By this time, I've made about 20% more coffee than I can fit in the cup, so I take a couple of mouthfuls (of the luscious ambrosia) until I've lowered the level to fit more foam in. I go back to bed (winter) or outside to the balcony (summer). Then, I'm in Cappuccino heaven.
