Interview with D. L. Lightcraft

How do you approach cover design?
Basically, I don't give a flying fuck, just do whatever comes to mind and relates a bit to the book's content.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
It was a poem, I named it "A letter to God", it was my own version of the catholic/christian "Our Father" prayer. Since I was born, I can say I've always been aside from the so called god, therefore, I tried to write and see if I could actually get an answer, I guess you could say I'm still waiting for one.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
How could I ever forget it? First story I read for pure pleasure was back when I was 12, I read Poe's Masque of the Red Death. It just made me fall inlove with such twisted words, the feeling I got out of it just made my soul shatter in pieces, cold despair made it come all together and I was basically born again to what I felt was right...Those dark stories are just my own bible of darkness.
When did you first start writing?
I was 10 years old or so.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Chile, being bullied and such. I guess it did, it kind of made me see the worse of the ones who called themselves 'humans'
What is your writing process?
Difficult question, I'm the kind of guys who just writes his heart out, tries to make it impersonal, then tries to make it personal, makes a little smash up of all of the earlier mentioned and just throws it all away, then, whenever I feed comfortable with what I messed up, I'll write it down and make some bizarre meaning out of it.
I guess I could say I'm rather a sick bastard who's trying to deliver a message to whoever wants to read my heresies, blasfemies, teocidal thoughts and whatever comes to mind.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I research for books which are related in some way to what I like reading. May be sci-fi, horror, psychological horror, who knows what else.
All that matters to me is that the few pages are able to make me feel like I want to feel in that precise moment.
What do you read for pleasure?
H.P. Lovecraft, E.A. Poe, W. Goethe, D. Allighieri, among others. Usually fantasy and/or horror linked books are in my shelf.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I only own my iPhone
Describe your desk
It's a total mess, books everywhere, some pens and pencils and more books, some notepads and more pencils.
