Interview with TJ Weeks

When did you first start writing?
I started writing when I was very young, I had my first book published when I was in the 6th grade. I didn't get really serious until just a few years ago. I had written a book of poetry that were old lyrics from my band that I did not use and then a few years ago I decided I wanted to challenge myself and wrote Deadly Mountain, which is now Obsessed With The Kill
What's the story behind your latest book?
I wanted to write something that was out of this world, that no one had done before. So SK Ballinger and I got together and spent hours on Skype getting together an outline on this masterpiece and just started writing and collaborating with each other and it turned out wonderful.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I had been with a couple of publishers and had tried to publish out that way, but things just weren't done the way I wanted them to be with my books, so I figured If I wanted it done my way, then I need to do it myself, and I am glad I did. I have made some awesome friends and fans by being an indie author.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I love to be able to bring characters to life and I absolutely love putting shock factors in my books. I love to hear that someone had to put my book down for a minute just to fathom the craziness that was going on.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans are absolutely everything. If it were not for my fans, I would not have the bit of success I do have. My fans actually hit me up to check on me and my family and to talk about my books etc. I would be absolutely nothing without my fans.
What are you working on next?
I am going to be working with SK Ballinger again on book 2 of the Unfleshed series. It is going to be called Ashes to Ashes.
Who are your favorite authors?
I am a big fan of Iris Johansen, I have a few Indie Authors that I have become a fan of like Ted Nulty, SK Ballinger has a great book out which is Stanley Swanson, Breed of a Werewolf.
How do you approach cover design?
I was making my own covers, but the last two covers I have had done by Dean Samed, he has done a great job on Devil Station and Unfleshed. He will be doing all of my covers from now on.
Describe your desk
My desk has my laptop, a fish tank, printer, ash tray and sticky notes everywhere.
