The idea for the book "101 Mountain Biking tips and techniques" came from a bad experience actually. In January of this year, I left Australia where I was studying and went for a 3 months mountain biking vacation in New Zealand. My plan was to stay 1 month in each city, starting in Christchurch. Unfortunately, I had my bike stolen in my second week there. Then I had some free time to evaluate what I could do next. I then decided to write a book about the sport and put on it everything I knew. I found out later that it could be also a great opportunity for me to improve my skills. I bought another bike and kept my time on writing and mountain biking during the rest of the period. The south island of New Zealand is an inspiring place to be and writing became an easy process.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a countryside area near a small town in the southeastern region of Brazil. My parent's house is surrounded by forests and I had the chance to play outdoors while I was not studying or helping with farm works. This strong connection with nature is probably the main influence I received as I tend to describe the feelings of freedom and amazement from those experiences.
What do your fans mean to you?
They are the reason why I decided to write books. I want to contribute to their knowledge background sharing my own experiences and add value to their lives.
What are you working on next?
I am planning to write a new book next year about renewable energy in a simple language to increase people's awareness about climate change and the urgent need for an energy transition from fossil fuels to sustainable energy sources. I'm currently studying a master degree in this field.
Who are your favorite authors?
J R R Tolkien, Stephen King, Dan Brown, among others.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The desire to make an impact in this world and improve people's lives...share great moments with family and friends...try new sports or practice the same favorite ones like mountain biking. There are many reasons to get out of my bed and keep moving through life.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
In general, I like to listen to music, but doing other stuff at the same time like studying and reading. Traveling is one of my great passions so I save time for it as often as possible. Now and for the next months I'll be quite busy with my masters study.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I'm always looking for interesting content related to my personal development. The suggestions may come from conversations with friends or online searches.
What is your writing process?
I learned last year about planning for writing and that's what I put on practice. I select my topic and make notes around it using a mind map tool. Then I'll divide it in an organized way to form topics or chapters, depending on what I'm writing. With this work done, it becomes very easy to write.
What do you read for pleasure?
I generally read uplifting content related to wellbeing and self-awareness. I receive suggestions in my email box every day and when I have time I select what is most appealing.
Describe your desk
My notebook stands on the middle with my sound box on the side, sometimes on when I'm listening to music on Deezer. My bottle of water is always by my side and I take this habit very seriously. If I'm working on paper I put it organized on one side and what I'm using staying in front of me.
