What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
The age old word-of-mouth goes a long way but I also add a link to my SmashWords page in all my emails.
Describe your desk
It has reference books and notes for about four projects at the moment.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up around Houston, Texas. This enabled me to get a feel for the big city but also for the rural areas.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I got the inspiration for my latest book, Planning Your Funeral, when i saw how so many times people do not know how to plan a funeral after a loved one has died. I hope this will help relieve some of the stress associated with planning a funeral just after someone has died.
What do you enjoy as a hobby?
I enjoy building wooded model ships from scratch. I also enjoy building historical structures at model size.
What are some of your probable upcoming topics for books?
I plan to write about having cancer, continuity of operations for churches, and preventing home intrusion and invasion, among other topics.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing in about 1995 when I was a religion correspondent for a small local newspaper in Alabama.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords is great! I first began using Smashwords while I was in seminary.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I enjoy teaching and helping other people with life issues.
What other hobbies do you like to do?
I enjoy fishing very much and I enjoy making my own fishing lures. i may write about both of these in the near future.
What are you working on next?
At this time, I am working on a Bible study for Pentecost.
Who are your favorite authors?
I like Lee Child and William W. Johnstone. I also read Clive Cussler. On the spiritual side, I enjoy Thomas Merton.
