Interview with Jake Rhodes

When did you first start writing?
At a very young age I would say about 8 years old when I was in school as a child.
What's the story behind your latest book?
It is a recipe book for breakfast smoothies. I wrote it because I am into health and fitness a lot and I try to take care of my body and I love making smoothies so it just made since that I would write a book on some of the smoothie recipes that I have been compiling for years now.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I have always written in journals and notes and what every I could write something down in so naturally I liked the idea that I could make a formal writing of things I am doing in my own life so that I could hopefully help others.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I have just started so I cant say that just yet.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
To see something being created out of nothing but the thoughts in my head.
What do your fans mean to you?
Man fans are like my peers because they are. They are not just who I am writing too because I am writing to people who are just like me. I am writing to people that need help or reference to something in their life so my fans mean that they are my equals who I am trying to conquer the world with.
What are you working on next?
I am currently working on a Paleo smoothie recipe book.
Who are your favorite authors?
Edgar Allen Poe, Stewart woods, and Anthony Robbins.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I can always see my computer and my sticky notes from my bed so it is always in front of me of what I could be doing next and that gets me excited to create more.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I spend most of my time reading or outside.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I read all the great non-fiction self help books so one usually refers the other and thats how I find more and more.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes it was a law essay when I was in 6th grade.
What is your writing process?
Research, outline, research more, re-outline, write, proof, edit, rewrite, proof, edit, rewrite, get others to check, edit, modify, write proof. edit, publish
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
How do you approach cover design?
I am also a graphic designer so I create all my own covers.
