I've always been an action adventure fan, and when I read my first Clive Cussler novel, I was hooked. Tom Clancy and Dale brown came close, but the original Mister Cussler remains my favorite.
Describe your desk
The background behind my monitor are the Appalachian mountains, and on either side of my keyboard are areas for my cat to sprawl while keeping me company.
When did you first start writing?
In high school my mind was always on the other side of the window, which accounted for my mediocre grades. When the English teacher got past the nouns and pronouns, adjectives and such, she started to become interesting when we began our first steps as creative writers. When I realized that my imaginary adventures would come to life on paper, I couldn't stop. It also helped when my teacher wanted me to read them out loud for the rest of the class.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I'm not a diehard environmentalist, but I am aware of our self destructive tendencies toward this small world we live on. In the first episode of Alex Cave adventures, the back story is our dependency on fossil fuels. In the upcoming second episode of the Alex Cave adventures, global warming sets the background for the story. I'm working on his third adventure, and the back story will be another environmental scenario, that once again only Alex Cave can resolve.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
The freedom to publish my stories without the often one sided opinions of agents and publishers. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but there are so many variations in the publishing world, that trying to match my writing with an agent of the same opinion as mine is a one in two-hundred or more possibility. Being an indie writer lets me imagine a great story and transform it into words without the constant mental anguish of hoping an agent will like it, too.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
When someone finishes reading one of my novels and says, I really enjoyed your story, and I look forward to reading your next novel.
What do your fans mean to you?
They are the reason I write. The greatest driving force behind my writing is to take them on a great adventure that no one else has taken them on before.
What are you working on next?
The third adventure in the Alex Cave series.
