Interview with Jessica Ward

How do you approach cover design?
My cover designs are based on real products. The zombie skinned shoes on the first cover are hand made by a great designer based in Southampton Nixxi Rose. I contacted her shortly after discovering her designs and she kindly gave me the permission to use her photos as the cover.

My second book features a designer a little closer to home. Emma Evans the owner of online shop Amelia Sparkles created the shoe for 'Path of Destruction' we are working together very closely and she is in the process of designing my very own zombie hermes bag!
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story behind my book is inspired by the Ebola virus. I came across a BBC news story a few months ago and to me, the symptoms were that frightening I knew it would make a good story. From this the E Virus was born
Who are your favorite authors?
Mark Tufo is my all time favorite author. He created the Zombie Fallout series which gave me the inspiration to write my own book. Since becoming an author I have been in contact with Mark and he has kindly provided me with advice and support. He really is an inspiration to me, not many authors take the time out to speak to their fans the way Mark Tufo does. He truly is an amazing kind hearted man.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Facebook has been a great help for getting the word out. By joining groups I am able to hold discussions with fans and like minded people.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy for me, is having people read and enjoy something that I have created. The response so far has been incredible.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans are a key to the success of my book. Listening to their thoughts and ideas not only inspire me but push me to carry on.
What are you working on next?
I am currently working on my second instalment of the E Virus series 'Path of Destruction' I plan to make the E Virus into a trilogy at the very least.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Writing is currently more of a hobby of mine. I work full time as a Marketing Coordinator for a Lift Company in Knutsford. It keeps me busy on a daily basis and so far is a lovely place to work!
