A young apprentice to Elizabeth Keckley, Mary Lincoln's dressmaker, meets President Lincoln and he tells her that she can be anything she wants to be. She wants to be a princess. Lincoln tells her that if he can be President of the United States of America, she can be a princess. Not long afterwards, she is kidnapped and taken to New Orleans; she never forgets what President Lincoln told her.
