Interview with Jim Lively

What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book is "Punitive Damages" written from the dog's perspective. While it is obviously fiction, it is based on real life events as I attempted to match wits with my newly adopted female Weimaraner dog.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy has to be the satisfaction of committing to words thoughts and ideas on a particular subject.
What are you working on next?
I have started a sequel to "Punitive Damages."
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I am also a professional visual artist. I love to paint and make artist videos.
How do you approach cover design?
As a professional artist, I painted the image which ultimately became the cover. "Punitive Damages" is the tale of an adopted rescue dog who is part lawyer, part philosopher but all princess. The cover depicts a butler handing a tiara to the dog.
What do you read for pleasure?
I love to read historical fiction especially that takes place during World War II.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My i-Pad.
Describe your desk
My desk is organized chaos.

The man adopted what he believed was an injured and malnourish female dog. What he adopted instead was part lawyer, part philosopher, part wine sommelier and all princess embodied in an intelligent, devious but loveable amnesiac. As with any adoption, there is the mandatory trial period. This trial period becomes more of a trial by ordeal as the man matches wits with his "new best friend".
