Who are your favorite authors?
Dr. Seuss, Vince Flynn, Susan Collins, Victoria Roth, Gene Roddenberry.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Mornings are great for research.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Exploring, doing craft projects, crocheting and sewing.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I choose a category, search by an author or a particular title I've heard about.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. Jacques The Dog.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The Bobbsey Twins on Treasure Hunt. I was seven or eight years old. It made me realize my family and life at the time was not the usual for most children.
How do you approach cover design?
I first determine the primary theme and environment of the completed story. Then, I sketch a background for the cover picture. Then comes the character(s), if any, to include in the foreground. I decide on placement and colors to be used for the title and my name. Next, I decide whether to have an artist I am familiar with to do the cover. If not, I review book covers, select some I like and contact the artist of one.
What do you read for pleasure?
Suspense, romance, spy, adventure and government intrigue novels.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My first choice is my android phone. My second choice is my Nook.
Describe your desk
A PC surrounded by a mass of research papers, idea notes, wadded-up rejected notes, a cell phone and a printer.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Morocco, California and Louisiana. I have lived among many different cultures and learned about the difficulties faced by all peoples.
When did you first start writing?
At twelve years old.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The current day politics, international affairs, national and world government intrigue and scandals.
What are you working on next?
A science fiction fantasy about creating and living in a floating city and the struggles to maintain sovereignty and security.
