Interview with JJ Moore

When did you first start writing?
I have enjoyed writing ever since I was a little kid in elementary school, but I mainly wrote poems or short stories. Then after I read Fifty Shades of Grey, I had a renewed interest in writing. It was on my bucket list, but my friend encouraged me to publish after I finished writing Everything's Bigger.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I am working on Everything's Complicated, which is the sequel to Everything's Bigger. And I have ideas for the other books that will keep you on your toes.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
After researching how to publish a book, I felt this was the best course for me to take. And so far, I am not disappointed in what it is like to be an indie author. I would recommend it anyone who wants to tell their story and reach others.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords is a great platform that allows me to reach more people in an easier way. They are there for me, can answer my questions, and have resources that can help me when I am in need.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I love expressing myself and being able to share the story with others in a way that they can relate to the characters and feel something as they read the book.

Who are your favorite authors?
I love Nicholas Sparks. I am never able to put one of his books down when I read it. So far no one has been able to compare for me.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
There are so many things in my life that make getting out of bed worth it each day. I am surrounded by a great group of friends and family. They make my life worthwhile. They are always there for the good and the bad, and have encouraged me to reach for all my goals and dreams.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I actually have a full job that keeps me busy. However, I also enjoy going to concerts, watching Pittsburgh sports teams, watching movies and TV shows, in addition to playing video games, going out with friends and family, playing games, travelling and sports-racquetball, swimming, hiking, bike riding, boating, ice skating, volleyball and bocce.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I look for books that have good stories that I can relate to, or self help books.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, I was a young child and it was a homework assignment.
What is your writing process?
I am a little unorthodox. I like to write in the comfort of my home, with music on in the background and late at night.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I love my kindle
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
My life has been so crazy that I have not had much time to market my books.
Describe your desk
I don't work well at a desk. My lap is my desk.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small town outside of Pittsburgh. It was an area where everyone on your street knew you and looked out for each other. We never locked our doors and I played outside with my friends. I knew I had to be when the lights came on or my dad whistled for us. There was a baseball field right above my house where I watched many little league games and played at the playground. It was kind of like Leave It to Beaver. I knew I was safe and surrounded by people who loved me. Furthermore, I grew up in a family where there was a lot of love shown. My parents will celebrate 50 years of marriage this year, so I know what true love is. I believe that my childhood taught me about romance and family.
What do your fans mean to you?
People who trust in me and read my books mean the world to me. They push me to be better and write something that they can relate to and love.
How do you approach cover design?
I want something that will be eye catching. I believe that the cover is what influences many readers to buy the book.
What do you read for pleasure?
I love to read romance books for pleasure. And lately erotic romances.
