Interview with JL Sharp

What do you read for pleasure?
An easier question would be what don't I read! I don't read horror or mystery. That's about it. I read absolutely everything else. I have a few favourite authors, however, I pick my reading material based mainly on the blurb or premise of a book.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I have a Kindle that was a gift. I love it but I do prefer a real book. Laptops are too bulky and iPhone's are too small.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
So far, Twitter has had the best results. I'm still learning though. It's all about getting yourself out there which of course is not easy when there are so many people trying to do the same thing!
Describe your desk
Desk? I don't have a desk. I spread out on the couch in the winter and in my porch in the summer.
When did you first start writing?
I wrote a story about an animal beauty contest when I was 6.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book is House of the Empath. It was written in about three months start to finish. I wanted to write a story set in a mysterious location with mysterious people. I live vicariously through my characters and I loved the idea of a mansion in France and the streets of Paris.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing is the writing itself. When I'm in the middle of a project that's really flowing and coming together, there's no better feeling.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything! <3
What are you working on next?
I'm working on follow ups for The Paper Lantern, the rest of the series attached to House of the Empath and a few other projects that will be coming later this year.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I have such a great life going on right now that it doesn't take much to get me out of bed. I live in a beautiful house on a lake with my family and have great co-workers. Days when I can enjoy all of that are the days I'm most grateful for.

It's dark, she's bored and doing what she's told has never come easily. Painting is Mary's bliss but the muse she finds near the caves on the beach doesn't want to let her go.
