Interview with Jo Donato

Published 2015-04-26.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing when I was seven years old. I always carried a notebook and pencil everywhere I went.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I can escape into worlds that I have created.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. It means they enjoy my work and I can provide them with a fantasy world that they can get lost in.
Who are your favorite authors?
Cheryl McIntyre, Ember Casey,
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Knowing there is always time to write.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Taking the kids to sports, baking, reading and helping the kids with their homework.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Kobo. I love my Kobo and just purchased one for my husband.
Describe your desk
A mess. There is a place for everything though, I have a beautiful black glass top with birds and flowers, an electric sharpener, printer, cordless phone, tissues, box of Skittles, 2 pen holders, one for pens and one for my writing pencils and stacks of folders and manuscripts. I prefer my desk this way to super tidy and nothing on it.
What's the next book about?
Okay I'm going to be up front so I don't frighten anyone. Secrets is a New Adult Fiction story that contains blindfolds, silk ties, handcuffs (occasionally) and a lot of moaning and groaning. Please don't be offended by this. It is about a girl who falls in love with a dominant who has a very dark, twisted history.
What are you working on next?
The next novel is about a boy who travels through time to find his soulmate.
