When did you first start writing?
I’ve long had a passion for creating ideas. Prior to my learning to read and write, drawing the stories I saw in my mind was my initial means of writing. Once I learned to format my thoughts, many nights were spent developing and writing all kinds of stories. The love and pure enjoyment of writing has stayed with me throughout my lifespan.
What's the story behind your latest book?
THE HEART OF IT ALL is a book of poetry, and while I have never considered myself a poet, I have true love and admiration for the art form. My career path being a film & video director, there are so many ideas trapped inside my head because to produce them visually takes tons of money, people, equipment, etc.
Writing, while a lonely form of creativity, will allow one to go as far as one would like without cost or boundaries or any hurdles beyond one’s own thoughts. Aside from that, while I have always loved writing, I have so much respect for the writing profession that there was some hesitation on my part.
However because I am a person that has been fortunate to have over 95% of my dreams come true, writing was something I always wanted and simply doing it was my opportunity in itself to make another dream a reality.
The story behind THE HEART OF IT ALL, is a life long story. A story that allows the readers to sneak a peek into my thought, fears, loves, and dreams. The story behind THE HEART OF IT ALL, is simply put…a lot about JOHNATHAN.
What are you working on next?
I am currently working on my next project entitled THE CREATOR. Without giving much of it away, this is something I feel with impact the world. For me, positively empowering people is my greatest joy, and I feel THE CREATOR will be a masterpiece cherished by many.
Who are your favorite authors?
Some of my favorite authors are: Langston Hughes, Gil Scott Heron, Alex Haley, William Shakespeare, Alice Walker, & Stephen King
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
What inspires me to get out of the bed each day: GREATNESS! I long to achieve something great in this lifetime. Since I haven't a clue how much time is left on the clock, I feel I must be the earliest bird out of the nest to give myself a chance to reach my ultimate goal on Earth.
