Interview with Josefin Tingvall

Published 2014-08-21.
What are you working on next?
I am currently working on two childrens books (or a book for grown-up children). One that is about an indoor cat that decides to become a wildcat, and one that is about a different world where the most random things happens.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing, hmm..
I think it is that you can write anything, thing that doesn't make any sense or about creatures that doesn't exist. Many of my poems or stories are not things I can say in a conversation or everyday life situations, to write is the only way to share them.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the middle of Sweden, close to norway. in a small town surrounded by forest. Fairy tales and myths of the forests have followed me from my childhood and is a theme I often return to when I write.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I study textile art at an university, and I also work as an textile artist on the side of my studies. What can I say, I am an creative person that makes a lot of different things, among other writing.
What is your writing process?
My writing progress is different depending on what I am currently writing. Poems usually just pop up in my head when I least expect it, longer stories I often write in bits here and there. For some reason do I write as best when I am on my way somewhere for example, on a plane or in a train.
Describe your desk
Messy, to be honest, I have two desks both are a complete mess!
