Interview with Juanita Price

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Conducting onsite and online workshops. When not working, I love to read and travel.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
For the most part, I follow a set group of authors I like; therefore, I watch out for their book releases.
When did you first start writing?
I began seriously writing about 20 years ago.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Wow. That's a good question. I do not remember, but I guarantee you, it had to be something I wrote in high school.
What is your writing process?
I generally begin my books with an outline. The outline contains my listing of talk points (or rather writing points) and serves as a guide to keep me on track from the start of my book through its completion.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes, it was the "Diary of Anne Frank". It was the very first story in which I was able to see and walk through an atrocity expressed in print without the aid of an external visual (i.e. television or other visual media) .
What kind of books do you most enjoy reading?
I am a sucker for non-fiction books that provide me with a historical look into the origin of ideas and also those that teach people how to navigate life and its corresponding twists, turns, challenges and speed bumps. The key for me is that the book does more illustrating than preaching. Show me! Why? These seem to bring other human beings into the equation and place them at my side.
How do you approach cover design?
I seek out professional expertise for this part of the book project. The person I select must be a "seer" of sorts and capable of designing a cover that not only harmonizes with the book's theme, but captures what I see in my mind's eye even though I may do a terrible job of describing it.
What do you read for pleasure?
Reading period, is a pleasure.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Describe your desk
An eclectic muse
