Interview with Kathryn Durant

What do you read for pleasure?
Historical fiction, mystery, romance, fantasy and science fiction. I also occasionally enjoy biographies.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I use my Amazon 2013 Kindle Fire HDX 8.9.
Describe your desk
It usually contains my PC computer, a Brita water jug, my smartphone, and a huge cup to drink out of. Occasionally, there will also be a notepad with a pen, and a footstool to rest my feet upon.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
My first 12 years were spent in Poland, where I became enamored with all the great Polish literary writers of the 19th century. Later, when I came to Canada, I became an avid fan of Charlotte Bronte and Jane Austen, as well as Emily Bronte and Lucy Maud Montgomery.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing poetry in High School, as a sophomore.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I have always wanted to write, but lacked the motivation to do so. There were always plenty of stories running around in my head, inspiring and nagging at me, so one day I decided this endless procrastination had to end.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The freedom to create and share my vision with others has always brought me the most joy.
Who are your favorite authors?
My favorite authors were the Bronte sisters and Lucy Maud Montgomery.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The knowledge that I have a brand new day to create and share my inspirations with others.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I usually spend it playing video games or creating digital art. I also enjoy taking walks in the countryside and spending time with my closest family, friends and pets.
