Interview with Jane Timm Baxter

When did you first start writing?
I was seven years old when I first began writing stories, and they were all horror. I did not remember starting that young until my grandmother brought out a notebook of my childhood writings that she had saved for me. Obviously, being only seven years old, the stories were no longer than a page, and it was very clear that a child wrote them. However, two of my current manuscripts in progress come from the childhood ideas I penciled into that notebook. I have no doubt that the motivation to write those little horror stories is the same which causes me to write my current novels: I was six months old when I was diagnosed with night terrors. Instead of growing out of them, as most children do, I seem to have grown into them.
