Interview with Jennifer Theriot

What is your e-reading device of choice?
My iPhone! I always have my phone with me, so I take advantage of times I have to spend waiting. Instead of getting stressed out waiting in a doctor's office, stuck in traffic or standing in line somewhere, I just pull out my phone and read.
My favorite reading time (besides being on the beach in a comfy chair) is while getting a pedicure:) I put in my earbuds, listen to music and read myself silly.
I look at it as time well spent. My friends can't believe I read on my phone, but once you get used to it, it's great!
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story is about a middle aged woman, Olivia who thinks she has the perfect life until she discovers that her husband of 30 years has been unfaithful. Understandably, she is devastated by the news.
She is a very young at heart 58 year old woman and through her character, I wanted to inspire and show women of my age group that life doesn't stop once you hit 50. Life doesn't stop when someone you love stops loving you. Love CAN be found later in life. As mature women, we still love to listen to music, we want to feel sexy and desired; we still enjoy sex and there is hope for love and happiness. My character Olivia is forced to step 'out of the box' and confront her feelings. Of course, she has the love and support of a sexy, handsome widower Ash Harper......lucky Olivia!
When did you first start writing?
I started writing last year actually. I'd finished reading the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy and it left me thinking that I could write a romance novel about a woman my own age. I took 2 of my friends who are voracious readers to dinner and picked their brains for suggestions and they felt the same as me; that there just aren't many romance novels about middle aged lovers.
Bingo! That was all I needed to put my ideas into action.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greatest joy in writing is telling a story, developing good characters that are relatable; all with the intent that the reader feels taken in by them - like they could be friends with them.
It's the absolute best feeling in the world when a reader emails me and says how the book made her smile and gave her a sense of hope. That is my inspiration to keep it going!
What are you working on next?
I've published book 2 in the series, Out of the Box Regifted and I'm so excited about this book. It's been so much fun to write and I'm confident my readers will LOVE this one! I'm currently working on the 3rd and final in the Out of the Box series, Out of the Box Everlasting.
Book 4 will be a book written from another character in the book,Todd's POV. I also have plans to co-author romance novels with a good friend and we've got some pretty awesome ideas up our sleeves!
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything! I adore hearing from them and have developed so many good friendships from all over throughout this process - readers, fellow authors and bloggers. It's amazing how a book can bring people together.
