Interview with Kasper Hoe

Published 2014-04-18.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Not exactly, because it's long gone. But I remember something about it. It was written, when I went to the Elementary. And it was a story about a boy, who suddenly got reunited with a dead friend. Guess, I started early on the dark side stories.
What is your writing process?
Do I have one?
Well, I'm not one of those guys who takes the seat in front of the screen, thinking "I want to write another story".
Even if I do, I only start out on my own, and as further the writing of the story goes, I realize that the story is actually creating itself. I just sit there, writing it.
To make the picture to you:
Imagine you're in the movie theater, and what you see is what you write.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
No, I don't remember the first story I ever read. But I remember a lot of the stories I've read during the last couple of years.
How do you approach cover design?
Well, I'm not really great at designing my covers. I'm more the write-it-out guy. But sometimes I've got to do something, I'm not good at. I mean, if you don't do it, how would you ever get better at something?
What are your five favorite books, and why?
"Bag Of Bones" by Stephen King is one of my favorite books. I can't really explain why, but there's something about the story in that book, that I just like.
And "The Dark Half" is also one of them. I guess it may have something to do with the fact, that sometimes, while I'm working on another story/book, I feel like there's someone else working with me. Perhaps, my "Dark Half". :-)
What do you read for pleasure?
Books. LOL
Well, I prefer a book by Stephen King or something like that. Not just because he's my favorite writer, but I prefer stories taking place at the dark side.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Either my computer or my tablet.
What do your fans mean to you?
I don't know if I have any fans. But if I do, they'd mean a lot to me. Because if I have any fan, he/she may be one of those people who are "faithful" to me and my stories.
Well, I could say something about this fan-thing, and I want to say it, because I mean it:
If a writer doesn't care about his/her fans/readers, he/she should really shame on himself/herself. Because, if it wasn't for the readers, how would the stories "come to life"?
What are you working on next?
Actually, I've got a few projects going on right now. I'm working on a novel and another collection of short stories.
