Interview with Katherine Lynn

How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I typically will get in a zombie-search kind of mode and something catches my eye and I become alert.
How do you approach cover design?
Depending on the content, I start with deciding on a color palette. Once I am satisfied with the feel of it i move on to the picture I want to use. Typically it is a creation of pics that are put together in a way to visually represent the content of the book.
What do you read for pleasure?
I love to read books by Brian Green and other theoretical physics
What is your e-reading device of choice?
A tablet.
Describe your desk
I have a computer armoire which is disorganized and papers taped up here and there. posts pinned to the back board. Room for my coffee or tea, mouse and keyboard.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
This more than likely can be taken in the wrong way, but I grew up outside of Los Angeles, Ca. and remember thinking as a child that I wasn't fake or a poser and how strange I was to not like being that way. A human chameleon with many colors all around.
When did you first start writing?
In grade school
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Thinking outside the box and not wanting to conform to the 'standards' of the publishing industry. I felt there wasn't enough value placed on originality and creativity.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Greatly, from the wonderfully detailed how to books, Isbn numbers, etc. Without smashwords I would not have a completed book, it's that simple.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Sharing knowledge and wisdom through a creative media where everyone can have access to stories.
What are you working on next?
I'm currently working on a book all about Karma, what the different religions and cultures define it as, and how new age spirituality sees karma playing out.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Coffee and my doggies
