Interview with Kat Brewer

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story I ever wrote was Gypsy Eyes
How do you approach cover design?
I rely heavily on my eldest child to provide me with my covers, and I am intensely grateful for his talent
What are your five favorite books, and why?
I love all of Jane Austens work, I read a lot of Sherrilyn Kenyon and Charlaine Harris's Southern Vampire novels. The LTR trilogy and the Silmariilian are great favorites also.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I current own a Kindle and have an e-reader on my computer
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing in 2005
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I really had fun writing Here She Rules and I think it is a good story. I decided to be an indie writer because I honestly didn't think a publishing company would buy into the story, that they would say there wasn't a market for it. Personally I think it would be an excellent HBO series :)
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Bringing the character and stories out of my imagination and breathing life into them
What do your fans mean to you?
I am always incredibly flattered when people like my stories and can empathize with my characters
What are you working on next?
I have 2 stories running around in my head, the next book I am working on is called My Friend Pender, about a woman and her imaginary friend.
Who are your favorite authors?
Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, Katie McAllister, Patricia McKillip
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Working and spending time with my amazing husband
